Olivia Munn:Beauty secret

Get Your Hyaluronic Acid
I’m really big on hyaluronic acid, it’s so important. It’s something that we develop in our body and as we get older it starts to diminish like with collagen. But unlike collagen, its only purpose is to carry water to the parts of your body that need it. I started eating these special potatoes that are high in hyaluronic acid. You can order them from Japanese markets. They also come in pill form, which I tired but I really didn’t see much of a difference. Taking the actual food substance makes a huge difference.  I bake them everyday with olive oil and cinnamon. Spices are great because there’s no fat or sugar so you get all the flavor without the guilt (recipe below).

Invest In The Good Stuff
A little over a year ago I got on a medication and out of nowhere, whatever that medication was, it messed up my skin. All of a sudden I had this cystic acne, which I’ve never had before, and I was freaking out. It was a nightmare. I tried everything—acupuncture, steroid shots, peels—nothing made it go away. Then my agent sent me a box of Proactiv Plus and I tried it and everything started clearing up. I believe that you have to make your skin a priority. You may regret buying that purse or those pair of shoes you only wore once, but you’ll never regret the money you spend on taking care of your skin.

Always Go To Bed With a Clean Face
You should clean your skin every night. Even when I get lazy and tired, I’ll keep the makeup wipes, Proactiv toner and moisturizer right by my bed. I make it super easy so I have no excuses. I started doing that when I read a study that showed that every night you go to bed without cleaning your face it ages your skin an extra day. That’s double the aging! Ugh, no thank you.

Try Simple Makeup with One Bold Accent
A defined brow and a nice cheek is really important to me because of my round face. After that, I like to play around with lips and eyes. Right now I’m loving the Whirl lip liner by Mac and using that just by itself. It’s a pink/taupe that gives your lip definition and a pop of color but still manages to look like a neutral. But my go-to is usually a bright lip. Some people feel like a red lip is more of a night thing, but I completely disagree. It can be really fun and funky and make any outfit look interesting.

Let Your Skin Shine Through
When it comes to makeup, it’s important to let your skin show through. I like using a tinted moisturizer because it has enough coverage to help even out skin tone but not too much that you can see it. You can only hide behind your makeup for so long and then it’s just you. At some point the high heels and lipstick have to come off.

Olivia Munn’s Anti-Aging Potato Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 medium sized Satsumaimo Japanese sweet potato
Extra virgin olive oil
Cinnamon

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 F.
Slice the sweet potato into 1-inch thick rounds and place on a baking sheet. Drizzle each slice with extra virgin olive oil on both sides and sprinkle the top with cinnamon. I like to make sure the whole potato is covered with cinnamon, but you can use as much as you like. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the bottom of each slice is golden brown. Enjoy watching those lines on your face disappear!
